Mark S. Flynn Joins Virtus Investment Partners as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer

HARTFORD, Conn., Feb. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Virtus Investment Partners, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRTS), which operates a multi-manager asset management business, today announced that Mark S. Flynn has joined the company in a new position as executive vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer.

In this role, he is responsible for all of the company's legal affairs, provides counsel on a range of related issues including corporate governance, transactions and regulatory compliance programs, and oversees outside counsel.

"Mark brings a wealth of corporate and private law practice experience with manufacturing, service and technology companies, and we are pleased that he has joined the management team at Virtus," said George R. Aylward, president and chief executive officer.  "His ability to partner with corporate executives and board members as the senior counsel for public and private companies, as well as his experience in private law practice, will be important to Virtus as we continue to grow our company."

Flynn previously was chief legal officer and corporate secretary for iBasis, Inc., an international telecommunications carrier.  Before that, he served as vice president, general counsel and secretary for Imagistics International Inc., a document imaging equipment company, and earlier as a partner in the Business Practice Group of Wiggin & Dana, LLP, where he focused on business transactions and general corporate representation.  He has also served in senior legal counsel positions at public and private companies in the chemicals and health care industries, including as senior deputy general counsel of Olin Corp., a diversified chemicals and materials company.

Mr. Flynn holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Fordham University College of Business Administration, and a Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law, where he served on the staff of the Fordham Law Review and the Fordham International Law Journal.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals, and the National Association of Corporate Directors.
